Who We Are

Manifesto Gallery, located in Shangqiu, central China, is a dynamic space dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and artistic collaboration. Founded by a young and passionate Chinese artist, Liu Ya (Gallery Director), and renowned artist, Li Feng (Artistic Director), our gallery serves as a bridge between Eastern and Western artistic traditions. We are committed to introducing Western influences to our region by inviting curators and artists from around the world to collaborate and exhibit their work.

Our Mission

Our mission at Manifesto Gallery is to create a vibrant platform for contemporary art that resonates deeply with our audience. We believe in the power of art to touch the heart and intuition, and we welcome works across various styles and mediums that achieve this connection. The space for our gallery is partially provided by the local government, which shares our vision of fostering international collaboration and cultural enrichment. Through these partnerships, we aim to establish Shangqiu as a hub for contemporary art, bringing fresh perspectives and diverse artistic expressions to our community.

Born in Shangqiu, Henan Province, in 1992, Liu Ya graduated from Zhejiang University of Media and Communications in 2015. Currently, he lives and works between Shanghai and Shangqiu. His artistic practice is essentially a form of "allegorical" writing, based on reinterpretations of reality and literature. Through various mediums such as installation, painting, video, and performance, he constructs an image-writing system that presents poetically infused visual metaphors.
